U-Bahn U2 'Eberswalder Straße' or S-Bahn 'Schönhauser Allee' (lines S41/S42/S8/S85); tram M10 stops directly at 'Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark'
Start (individual runners, 6:00am Aug 15, 2026) and finish are both at Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin — the venue for this 161km loop ultramarathon along the former Berlin Wall trail. One of the best-connected venues in this batch.
Same as start — U2 Eberswalder Straße / S-Bahn Schönhauser Allee / tram M10
Course is a loop, so finish is the same Jahnsportpark venue as the start (cutoff noon Aug 16, 2026).
None needed — the venue sits directly on Berlin's U-Bahn/S-Bahn/tram network.
BVG ticket / rechargeable BVG card
Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above Alternative: WelcomeCard / CityTourCard (zone AB, 48h–6 days) — Worth it if you're also visiting paid attractions (includes discounts)
Berlin transit gates do NOT accept generic contactless bank card tap for a ride (unlike London/Boston). Buses are cashless -- contactless card or pre-bought ticket required, no cash.
Digital single/day tickets can be bought via BVG app with card/Apple Pay/Google Pay/PayPal. Tourist option: WelcomeCard / CityTourCard (48h-6 days, zone AB or ABC).
Berlin's BVG network runs on AB-zone tickets rather than a mandatory IC smartcard; the BVG Ticket-App supports Apple Pay, Google Pay and credit card purchase, and short-stay visitors often use a Berlin WelcomeCard or CityTourCard for unlimited AB/ABC zone travel. Note that BVG buses no longer accept cash, so contactless card or app payment is required on board.
A single AB fare is about 3 EUR.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark, the start venue,
is directly served by tram M10 and is also walkable from U2 Eberswalder Straße or S-Bahn Schönhauser Allee station.
This 161 km loop course follows the Berlin Wall Trail.
Even without a crew, runners can reach support points around the course by public transportation, a unique advantage of this event.
As an overnight race, a headlamp and warm layers are essential.
Registration is available through the official website.
Times are local to Berlin. Check the latest official information before the race.
