The Icelandbanki Reykjavik Marathon starts near the University of Iceland and finishes at Geirsgata.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.

Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The Reykjavík Marathon is held on the last Saturday of August each year.
Road closures and traffic disruption occur from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on race day.
The course is not completely closed to vehicles, so runners must watch for traffic on some sections.
The marathon has approximately 174m of total elevation gain.
The time limit for the marathon is 6 hours 30 minutes,
and official timing closes at 3:30 p.m. Half marathon participants must move onto the pavement at the Sæbraut section three hours after the start.
