Austin's Backyard Ultra • Marathon • Full • Half & Memorial Day Remembrance Run 4 Miler • 8 Miler

The core of this event is the 'Backyard Ultra' style last man standing race.

Participants must complete the 4.2 mile (approximately 6.8 km) loop by the hour on the hour to be eligible to proceed to the next loop,

and the last person remaining is the winner.

The organizers explain the nature of this event with the phrase, “A backyard ultra is won not at start line but in the chair between loops.”

To commemorate Memorial Day on the same weekend, general running events such as the full marathon marathon, half marathon, 8 mile, and 4 mile will also be held.

Early-bird Entry fee is $149.99 for backyard ultra, $99.99 for marathon, $85.99 for half marathon, and $59.99 for 8 mile and 4 mile each.

If you register for multiple events, you can get a discount of $45 to $55.

Course takes place at the Turkey Bend LCRA Recreation Area in the Texas Hill Country and features a mix of dirt and paved trails.

It is mandatory to wear a headlamp of at least 200 lumens during the night loop starting around 8 p.m.,

and after the fourth lap, you are advised to carry at least 20 ounces of water and electrolytes.

This appears to be a measure taken in consideration of the humid climate in Texas in May.
