The Shing Mun Reservoir (城門水塘) area, where this race takes place, is one of the best-known trail course in Hong Kong's New Territories.

Concrete service roads around the reservoir alternate with dense woodland.

The area near course also connects with Section 6 of the MacLehose Trail, making it a familiar training course among runners even outside race events.

The reservoir loop is also known for its large population of wild macaques, earning it the nickname 'Monkey Mountain'.

Runners pass through dense greenery throughout the course.

At approximately 7km, this third race course is one of the shorter and more accessible routes in the AVOHK Reservoir Series.

Getting to the start

Tsuen Wan MTR Station (Exit B1), then minibus 82 to Shing Mun Country Park / Pineapple Dam Nature Trail entrance

Race is at Shing Mun Reservoir in the New Territories. From Tsuen Wan MTR Exit B1, walk to Shiu Wo Street and take green minibus route 82, which drops off right at the Pineapple Dam Nature Trail entrance near the reservoir (about a 20-min walk further to the dam/trail start).

Shing Mun Reservoir is reached by public minibus. Race 3 is on Saturday 14 November 2026, 08:30, 7 km, and bibs are collected on race day.

At Hong Kong International Airport: MTR Customer Service Centres in the arrivals hall, counters by the Airport Express platforms, 24/7 self-service vending machines, or the 7-Eleven in the Arrivals hall. Also available at almost any MTR station and convenience stores citywide.

Works directly at the gates Alternative: MTR Tourist Day Pass USD 9.60 (approx.

HK$75) — Only worth it if you're packing in 5+ MTR-only rides in a single day, since it excludes Airport Express, Light Rail first class, and doesn't cover buses/trams/ferries the way Octopus does. Airport/MTR counters sell the Octopus card for HKD cash only, so have Hong Kong dollars ready.

The 'Tourist' Octopus starts from HK$39 with no refundable deposit. Foreign Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay contactless cards can tap directly at designated light-blue 'Contactless Payment' gates for MTR and Airport Express rides — but only at adult fares, and it doesn't cover Light Rail, MTR buses, or High Speed Rail.

Octopus, by contrast, works across the whole system: MTR, Airport Express, buses, minibuses, taxis, the street tram, Star Ferry, and outlying-island ferries.
