“I enter only one half marathon race a year and pour a year's worth of training into that one event.”

At the Taichung Lichuan half marathon, the runner endured the early climbs and headwinds before using the downhill sections in the second half to set a personal best. The crowded aid stations, shared by runners in different events, were disappointing, but the runner enjoyed the post-race meal.

Course starts at Taichung Xitun District Central Stadium, heads out onto Dunhua Road,

then runs in the opposite direction along Jingmao 9th Road before passing along Zhongke Road, where Kehu Love Bridge is located.

The course then follows Keya West Road and Dongda Road before entering the Tanyashen Bikeway.

Full marathon turns around in front of Section 1 of Tanfu Road, while half marathon turns around in front of Chongde Road.

Course is characterized by a relatively flat layout that alternates between bike paths and arterial roads in the new-town section of the Kehu Science Park.

Typical race-season temperature: around 19°C (65°F): Short sleeves — hydrate for the warmth

The distribution method for race materials (advance mailing or on-site collection) has not yet been announced.
Races in Taiwan often mail materials to the registered address in Taiwan approximately two weeks before race day, so overseas participants should confirm with the organizer whether on-site collection is available.

Stations & transport near the venue

Use an EasyCard or iPASS and tap both when boarding and alighting — this triggers Taichung's free-ride benefit for the first 10 km on city buses, which cash payment does not qualify for.

Getting to the start

Venue: 臺中中央球場 (Taichung Central Stadium), at the intersection of Kaisyuan Rd and Kaisyuan 7th St, Xitun District.

No MRT or shuttle-bus information is given in the official charter.

More details

Taichung city buses give a free ride for trips under 10 km ('Double Ten' policy since 2021 — free under 10km + max NT$10 for longer rides) —

but only if you tap an EasyCard/iPASS/icash on both boarding and exit;

cash payers don't get this discount.

Contactless bank card tap-to-pay is confirmed live on Taipei Metro and Taoyuan Airport MRT (from July 1, 2026) but not confirmed for Taichung buses or MRT.

Stations & transport near the venue

Taichung uses Taiwan's nationwide EasyCard, valid on Taichung MRT (Green Line), city buses, and even YouBike bike-share.

Buy one for NT$100 (non-refundable deposit) at any convenience store (7-Eleven, FamilyMart) or MRT station, and top up at the same convenience store counters.

Transfers between MRT and bus within an hour get a small fare discount when tapping the same card.

Registration ran from May 15, 2026 at 12:00 noon to July 15 at 11:59 p.m. (early close if capacity was reached),

and Entry fee was 1,700 New Taiwan dollars for full marathon (800 for the sustainability category), 1,200 New Taiwan dollars for half marathon (800 for the sustainability category), 1,000 New Taiwan dollars for 10km,

and 600 New Taiwan dollars for 5km, plus a separate chip deposit of 100 New Taiwan dollars.

Start times are full marathon 6:00 a.m., half marathon 6:20 a.m., 10km 6:50 a.m., and 5km 7:05 a.m.,

and the finish time limit are 6 hours 30 minutes, 4 hours, 2 hours, and 1 hour 30 minutes respectively.

Bib and the race packet are mailed only to residents of Taiwan from about one week before the race,

while overseas runners must pick them up at the on-site desk on December 5 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. or by 5:30 a.m. on race morning.
