It is famous as a food-focused race, with roast chicken, beef, fried rice noodles, and beer served at the aid stations.

It is a uniquely Taiwanese food marathon where the post-race feast matters more than the finishing time.

“The wind outside Yunlin high-speed rail station was so strong today that, even while eating my finisher's lunchbox, I worried it might blow away along with the tent.”

At the 2024 Huwei Roasted Chicken Marathon, the runner crossed Xiluo Bridge and rounded turnaround point, completing their 45th marathon in 6 hours 11 minutes in strong winds. They chatted with a participant wearing a pineapple on their head and met another runner to talk with over the final 10km.

The start is near Huwei, Yunlin Station, at the intersection of Jencheng Road and Zhanqian East Road (站前東路).

There are four events: full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21 km), a 10 km Challenge, and a 6 km Recreation event.

The race is known for serving roast chicken, beef, stir-fried rice noodles, beer, and more at its aid stations;

even the race name comes from '烤雞 (roast chicken) Marathon.'

Venue is directly adjacent to Taiwan High Speed Rail Yunlin Station, walkable for anyone taking the THSR.

Early registrants are eligible for a Yunlin specialty rice wine gift,

limited to the first 500 applicants who complete registration during the early-bird period and aged 18 or over.

Yunlin is a plain in west-central Taiwan, and autumn is relatively dry and cool by Taiwanese standards,

making it a reasonably comfortable season for long-distance running.
