THE DREAM
It is an ultramarathon in its 32nd edition.
Runners cover just over 33 miles of country roads in Butler and Saunders Counties, Nebraska.
Most of the route is gravel and dirt roads, mixed with bike paths and cross-country sections, with very little pavement.
Since it's a loop course that starts in downtown Brainard and returns to the same spot, it's easy for supporters to follow along.

From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I needed to run my race.”Shad Mika took on a first ultra at the 2007 Bohemian Alps 50km, starting fast before stomach pain and calf cramps struck late. With aid from family and a girlfriend, the runner finished fifth overall in 4 hours, 31 minutes.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.
