The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
The Termal Bologna Marathon takes place in Bologna, Italy, and is organized by ASD Bologna Sport Marathon SSD.
The next confirmed edition is the sixth, on 7 March 2027.
Alongside the 42.195km full marathon, the programme includes a 30km race (Portici course),
the 21.097km Run Tune Up, now in its 23rd edition, a 5K City Run and a children’s marathon.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“The course became quite undulating, lots of random sharp turns.”They ran mostly alone but drew strength from the support they received upon returning to the city, finishing their first marathon in 2:57:50.
“I became nothing but a body in motion, stopping wasn't even an option at this point as I knew I wouldnt get started again.”ImNotHalberstram took part in the 2026 Termal Bologna Marathon as their first marathon and finished in 2:57:50. They dealt with early congestion and humidity, a lonely stretch in the middle of the course, and a lack of carbohydrates late on, but still hit their sub-3 goal with a negative split.
“I felt like Forrest Gump after finishing his long run when I passed through finish. I was a little tired but satisfied with the good training session, and I completed the 30 km in 2:13:20.”
Sara ran the 30K dei Portici during the 2025 Bologna Marathon weekend. In her first long training run ahead of marathon prep, she held a pace of 4:30–4:35 per kilometer, taking in the city's ups and downs, fueling gels, pacing alongside a training partner, and support in the final 5K. She finished the 30K in 2:13:20 — better than expected for a training run — and placed second in her age group.

Tagliando la linea del traguardo mi sono sentita come Forrest Gump al termine della sua lunga corsa, “un po’ stanchina” ma soddisfatta del buon allenamento fatto: 30km in 2h13’20”.
Read the original on Running Factor“In the end, I finished in 3 hours 1 minute, and it was a valuable experience.”
The runner started while recovering from a cold before the race. After passing the halfway point in 1 hour 23 minutes 25 seconds, the runner maintained a pace below 4 minutes/km through 32 km. The runner slowed considerably afterward because of their condition and the demanding course, but finished in 3 hours 1 minute and described it as a tough race.

RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
6 hours (42.195km Termal Bologna Marathon; 2027 Official Rules)
Cut-off
2027 Official Rules: the marathon time limit is 6 hours. Once it is reached, the course is fully reopened, and runners finishing after that are left out of the official results. The middle cut-off point time is currently not disclosed.
The marathon is a competitive 42.195km race and a course linking Bologna's porticoes, iconic squares, and historic cityscape.
The 30km Portici race (30Km dei Portici) starts on Via Irnerio, shares most of its route with the marathon, and both races finish in Piazza Maggiore.
The 30km race focuses on Bologna's UNESCO World Heritage porticoes,
while the half marathon Run Tune Up starts in the historic district and finishes in Piazza Maggiore.
The marathon is a competitive race certified by FIDAL Bronze and WA under the standards of World Athletics and the Italian Athletics Federation.
The 2027 event will be the sixth edition, with four distances: the marathon, 30km, half marathon, and the 5km City Run.
Events will continue for three days, centered on Piazza Maggiore.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Pick up your race materials at the Termal Bologna Marathon Expo in Piazza Maggiore with your ID and confirmation from 2027-03-05 15:30~19:00 or 03-06 09:00~19:00. With advance reservation, same-day pickup is available on 03-07 08:00~before the start.
Just tap your contactless bank card or phone directly on the green EMV validators on TPER buses — no need to buy a local card, and it works out to the best available fare automatically.
Via Irnerio (~800m from Piazza Maggiore)
Marathon/30km/half start at 9:00 AM on Via Irnerio;
5km City Run starts 10:15 AM, same location.
Nearest hub is Bologna Centrale train station.
Bib holders ride TPer city buses free until 4:00 PM race day (excluding special-fare lines).
Vehicle access to Via Irnerio banned 04:00-13:00 race day.
Piazza Maggiore
Race finishes in the historic center at Piazza Maggiore.
Via dell'Indipendenza (leading into the center) is closed to vehicles 04:00-11:00 race day.
Official site's live logistics (bib pickup, traffic ordinance, TPer free-ride policy) are keyed to the 2026-03-01 edition;
venue/route/policy are structurally stable year to year.
Rolling vehicle bans along the full route in staggered windows 08:15-15:30 depending on segment.
No dedicated shuttle bus;
instead all bib holders (marathon, 30km, half, 5km City Run) ride TPer public buses free of charge until 16:00 on race day, excluding special-fare lines.
Mi Muovo card
TPER points, Bologna bus/train station kiosks, or online (ID required)
Works directly at the gates
The EMV contactless system auto-calculates fares and caps you at €6 for unlimited trips in a day on Bologna's urban network.
Starting March 1, 2026, TPER applies a temporary pre-authorization hold (up to €2.30) when you first tap, which is just a card check, not the final charge.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
As the race takes place on 7 March, prepare clothing that can be adjusted after checking the local forecast.
Since it is an urban course through porticoes and squares,
wear your usual running shoes and pack the fuel you need for a long-distance race according to your pace.
The marathon is 42.195km and the 30km race is 30km, so prepare different amounts of gels and drinks for each distance.
For accommodation, first consider options around Piazza Maggiore, the center of the finish and event activities.
The 30km starts on Via Irnerio, while the half marathon starts in the historic district,
so plan your morning travel separately for each distance based on its start location.
Check the Packet Pickup location and opening hours first, and because the event lasts three days, plan your pickup day and race-day routes separately.
Times are local to Bologna. Check the latest official information before the race.
