This is a CAA A-level-certified marathon in Jimsar, on the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang.

The course passes through the Beiting Ancient City ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Beiting National Wetland Park.

It is a 6,200-runner summer race through the history of Northern Beiting along the Silk Road.

“I'd just finished my university entrance exams and signed up for this Tianshan Marathon because I love running. Being close to home was also a reason.”

Yuanfengjinyu enjoyed local support and the pre-start atmosphere at a first Jimsar Tianshan Marathon. Long early shuttle waits and too few toilets disappointed, while continuous running on the course left no chance for photos.

There are two events: full marathon (2,000 runners) and half marathon (4,200 runners), both starting at 7:00am from Beitingyuan Square.

Course links local landmarks including the Beiting Ancient City ruins, the wetland park, and Tingzhou Bay Park.

Registration opens in early July, with pre-registration and payment followed by a draw to determine bib.

Prize money is awarded through 20th place, with a top prize of 20,000 yuan (as of 2026).

Entry fee starts at 120 yuan.
