This marathon runs along the Morgele River in Hulunbuir, one of the world’s largest grasslands and a 5A-rated scenic area.
Starting at the South Tourist Service Center, the route heads north along the scenic road on the east bank of the winding river.
A straight course with nothing but sky and grass — China’s most expansive summer race.

From the 2026 editionWe have not confirmed the start line coordinates yet. The map shows the host city.
The two events are full marathon and half marathon, both starting at 7:30am from the South Tourist Service Center in the Morgele River Scenic Area.
Both follow a point-to-point route north along the scenic road on the east bank of the river.
Registration is first come, first served through WeChat official accounts, including the Hulunbuir Grassland Marathon account, from early July.
Entry fee costs half marathon 100 yuan and full 120 yuan (as of 2026).

Hulunbuir is a vast grassland region with no dedicated urban transit card system; race travelers rely on car rental, taxi, or organizer shuttle rather than public transit.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The base is Chen Barag Banner, near Hailar, with the scenic area about a 40-minute drive from Hailar Airport or Hailar Station.
Checking the race shuttle announcements is recommended.
Grassland mornings can drop to around 10°C even in midsummer, so warm clothing is essential.
The shaded course also requires sun protection.
As this is a point-to-point course, returning from the finish by shuttle is essential.
