Race reports: 3
Molly LorenzoRan in 2025 · Finish time 03:55:36
“I got my PR with 29 seconds to spare!”

Molly Lorenzo set a personal best of 3:55:36 at the 2025 Cape Cod Marathon. She loved the coastal scenery and small-town feel, but the rolling hills, strong wind and rain, and an off day made it a grind — she held on to her time by tucking in behind a pace group in the second half.

TinPeregrinusRan in 2022 · Finish time 4:22:05 chip
“Everything up to then felt easy; everything after it felt hard.”

TinPeregrinus took on the Cape Cod Marathon as a first marathon in 2022 and finished in 4:22:05 (chip time). They ran along the coast and through seaside towns; the hills and strong headwinds in the back half were tough, but they crossed the finish without walking. They recalled that the fueling and pacing they'd worried about in training went well.

“Sunday’s Cape Cod Marathon in Falmouth, Massachusetts was no different.”

The author wrote about personally running the Cape Cod Marathon in Falmouth, experiencing lower-back discomfort in the second half, alternating between running and walking, and continuing all the way to the finish.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

The start and finish are at Mullen-Hall School, 130 Katharine Lee Bates Road, in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Course follows the coast of Nantucket Sound and is designed with views of the ocean and Martha's Vineyard.

It is described as a flat, fast course, but it is an open course with no road closures, so you must run alongside traffic.

The Cape Cod Marathon was held at the nearby Otis Air Force Base and Camp Edwards in Bourne from 1978 to 1983.

It moved to Falmouth in 1984 and has continued under the organization of the Falmouth Track Club.

It is a USATF-certified Boston Marathon qualifying race, and the 2026 full marathon field is limited to 1,200 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cut-off is 6 hours, with a qualifying pace of 13 minutes 43 seconds per mile.

Aid station and portable toilets are available approximately every 2 miles, and warm clam chowder, soup and apple cider doughnuts are provided at the finish.

Typical race-season temperature: around 14°C (57°F)
