Why you dream of this race

THE DREAM

About Devil After Dark — what makes it special

ABOUT THE RACE

A day you'll remember,
long past the finish line.

This race runs as the sun sets and the night air turns pleasant.

It's the nighttime version of a race held by the same organizers amid the late-June heat.

The road to your own record

Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.

When the city cheers

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.

The trip that follows the run

Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.

No runner reports yet. We'll add them here as they come in.

More details

Getting to the start

No public transit — car access required

Start venue is Lovell Canyon in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, roughly 30 minutes' drive from Harry Reid International Airport / Las Vegas. Remote mountain canyon with no transit service.

Date Sept 19, 2026 confirmed on calicoracing. Remote rural venue — car access only is expected and normal.

Getting to the finish

No public transit — car access required

Finish in the same Lovell Canyon area as the start.

Start shuttle

runners drive and park at the canyon venue.

IC card

RTC Tap & GO (reloadable card exists, but is optional — open-loop bank-card tap is fully supported system-wide)

If you still want a physical Tap & GO card, it's free from the Bonneville Transit Center or RTC Administrative Offices; reload via the rideRTC app or at 350+ retailers. Works directly at the gates

Alternative: 24-Hour Pass $8 (2026); The Deuce/Strip single ride $4, standard local single ride ~$2 — Since single-ride taps aggregate and cap automatically over a 24-hour period from your first tap, a pre-bought day pass usually isn't necessary — just tap your bank card each ride and let it auto-cap. RTC's own newsroom confirms system-wide EMV open-loop acceptance: RTC transit customers can pay with their debit/credit cards, mobile wallet, or smart watch, across RTC's entire bus network including The Deuce.

Not applicable to the privately-run Las Vegas Monorail, which uses its own separate ticketing. Cash is still accepted on board with exact change.

Las Vegas has the RTC Transit bus network, where you can simply tap a contactless Visa or Mastercard debit/credit card or phone wallet to ride, or buy a reloadable RTC Tap and GO card. A single ride is 2 dollars, but Devil After Dark is a desert trail event outside the Strip, so most runners will still need a car to reach the venue.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The race starts just before sunset and is a nighttime event, passing through Lovell Canyon as the course transitions from sunset into darkness.

It runs through a section of the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area under a U.S. Forest Service permit,

with a distance of 13.1 miles for the half marathon.

All participants, regardless of event, receive a technical T-shirt, a finisher's finisher medal, and post-race food.

Times are local to Las Vegas. Check the latest official information before the race.
