“I ran the the full marathon and was very pleased with the race.”

At the East Canyon Marathon, the runner enjoyed a scenic downhill course with water and drinks at aid stations about every 2 miles. Although the finish area could be confusing, signs and marshals guided them safely home.

Marathon starts at Big Mountain Pass, top of Emigration Canyon, a remote mountain trailhead outside Salt Lake City with no transit access. Confirmed date Aug 29, 2026 matches source.

All distances finish at Morgan County Fairgrounds, 750 E Como Springs Road, Morgan, UT — a rural fairground with no fixed-route transit.

Race organizers run a point-to-point race-day shuttle between the finish area and the mountain start (not public transit).

Transit card

Morgan, Utah is a small rural community with no public transit system. The East Canyon Marathon is a car-access event, so participants need a personal or rental vehicle to reach the start and any shuttle points.

The East Canyon Marathon is a net-downhill road course.

It starts at Big Mountain Pass (elevation 7,429 feet, the summit of Emigration Canyon with views of Salt Lake City), follows East Canyon Reservoir,

passes through the canyon terrain of Red Rock Canyon, continues into the Morgan Valley farmland,

and finishes at Morgan County Fairgrounds at about 5,000 feet elevation.

The total elevation loss exceeds 2,300 feet.

It is a Boston Marathon qualifying course, but because of its net-downhill nature, a 5-minute penalty is applied when calculating Boston Qualifying times.
