None – no public transit; historic (inactive) Gassaway train depot marks the parking area

Start is at the northern end of the Elk River Trail, at the Route 4 bridge/River Road intersection in southern Gassaway, WV. Gravel-lot parking is available near the historic Gassaway train depot, but the depot is no longer an active passenger rail station — it's just a landmark/parking reference.

Small-town WV rail-trail race in rural Braxton County with no functioning public transit; the 'depot' name is historical only.

Gassaway in September — Average 19°C, a good temperature for chasing a fast time.

You cool down fast while waiting in the start corral, so wear a throwaway layer and shed it just before the gun.

Public transportation does not reach the venue.

The only realistic means of access are private cars and rental cars.

Full marathon really starts after 30km.

Running the first half 5–10 seconds slower than your goal pace helps you hold on in the second half, and start taking gels early, before you get hungry.
