More details

Getting to the start

None — no VIA Metropolitan Transit bus route serves the venue

Race is held at Land Heritage Institute, 1349 Neal Rd, San Antonio, TX 78264, a rural preserve on the far south side of the city, well outside VIA's fixed-route bus network. This is an evening/night race at a remote south-San Antonio ranch preserve — car or rideshare is the only practical way in.

Getting to the finish

Same — Land Heritage Institute grounds (loop course)

Finish is at the same trailhead/start area at Land Heritage Institute.

Transit card

goCard (physical reloadable card; disposable goCard Lite also available)

VIA Customer Service Centers (ticket windows) sell/reload the reloadable goCard; preloaded goCard Lite cards are also sold at most H-E-B grocery stores. Works directly at the gates

Alternative: VIA Day Pass $2.75 (regular) — reduced-fare day pass $1.35 — Worth buying if taking 3+ rides in one day (single fare is $1.30/trip); otherwise tapping your bank card per ride is simplest for a one-off marathon trip. VIA rolled out tap-to-pay fare boxes across its entire bus fleet in February 2025, accepting contactless Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and mobile wallets at the same fare as cash, no added fee.

Cash is still accepted on board (exact change required). This is VIA's whole bus network — there is no separate rail system in San Antonio.

San Antonio's VIA Metropolitan Transit uses the goCard/goCard Lite smartcard system, loadable at VIA Customer Service Centers and many H-E-B stores, with single rides at $1.30. VIA buses also now accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless debit/credit cards directly, so a dedicated card isn't strictly necessary for a short visit.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The venue is outside the VIA city bus network, so you will need a private car or rental car.

The race is organized by Texas Outlaw Running, with registration available through UltraSignup.

This is a cupless race, so you must bring your own hydration equipment.

With temperatures remaining at 24–27°C even at night in August, managing electrolytes and pace is key to finishing.

Times are local to San Antonio. Check the latest official information before the race.
