“The course was beautiful and super duper flat.”

The runner ran on the flat course, with lakes and rural scenery continuing along the route, and rated the organization of the water stations and the support in the city-center section positively. However, some sections were exposed to strong sunlight, there were few spectators, and the expo was modest.

Schnida ran the 2024 Geneva Marathon as a first full marathon. Schnida resumed training after surgery and initially followed the 3-hour 30-minute pacer, but adjusted the goal because of foot pain and fatigue. With support from family and the spectators, Schnida finished in 3 hours 36 minutes 39 seconds without walking.

The runner's goal for their first marathon was to finish while holding their father's hand. The runner maintained a steady pace from start to finish. When they saw the 30 km marker, they were overwhelmed by the realization and emotion of actually running a marathon, but their father helped them set small goals, such as the next aid station and the tunnel section, so they maintained their pace to the end. The runner had trained to eat and drink every 35–40 minutes, and on race day ate cake and TUC crackers and drank water at aid stations, finishing in 4 hours 12 minutes and 58 seconds without stomach pain or a sudden loss of energy.

Online first-come, first-served registration on the official site;

no qualifying time required.

"Registration is open without time qualification, following a first-come,

The marathon is a 42.195 km single loop starting on Chemin Frank Thomas in Collonges and finishing at Pont du Mont-Blanc in Geneva.

The route initially passes through the Geneva countryside before reaching the shores of Lake Geneva and the city centre,

where runners can see the Jet d'Eau and the Alps.

Half marathon also starts at the same location, passes through the countryside and along the lakeshore, and finishes at the same finish.

Although the route links the countryside, city and lakeshore, course itself is described as suitable for targeting a personal best.

In fact, more than half of participants set a personal best each year, and the marathon time limit is 6 hours.

The 2027 race will be held alongside the Swiss Marathon Championships.

Marathon participants who are Swiss or Liechtenstein nationals are automatically included in those championships.

The minimum age is 18 for the marathon and 17 for half marathon.

There's no tap-in/tap-out gate system in Geneva —

you buy a ticket or pass in advance (from a machine, which does accept contactless bank cards for payment) rather than tapping your bank card directly as a fare.

The marathon starts at 9:00 a.m. on May 9, 2027, and half marathon starts at 7:30 a.m. There are target-time pacer from 3 hours to 5 hours for the marathon,

and from 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes for half marathon.

If you have a clear target time, choose the relevant group before the start,

and you can set your pace based on the fact that time limit is 6 hours for the marathon and half marathon 3 hours.

The starting point is Coloney, while finish is at Pont du Mont-Blanc in downtown Geneva, so they are different.

When choosing accommodation, it is a good idea to first decide whether to prioritize access to the start or getting around after the finish.

Relay races can be entered from age 14, and a team of 4 to 6 people runs by dividing the marathon course.

You just need to check the start time and age requirements for your event and plan your race weekend accordingly.
