“Since all the runners started together I didn’t want to get tempted to run too fast too early.”

At the Gobbler Grind Marathon, cold stiffened the runner's thighs and winding bike paths slowed them, yet they steadily moved up the field. A final push secured second place in 2 hours 49 minutes 23 seconds.

READY TO RUN

BIBs, timing chips,

and participant T-shirts are distributed on November 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kansas City-Overland Park,

near the start.

Race-day pickup is not available, but family members or friends may collect items on a participant's behalf.

Dogs, skateboards, inline skates, and bicycles are prohibited for course safety, and participants with strollers must start at the back of the field.

The race proceeds as scheduled in rain, snow, or extreme cold, but a lightning delay of at least 10 minutes may be imposed,

and the race may be canceled if lightning continues for more than 30 minutes.

At Founders Park, where the finish is located, runners can enjoy food trucks, live music, and the awards ceremony after finishing.
