No public transit; start/finish at Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail trailhead (Hell Creek area), Wilson State Park, near Sylvan Grove, KS (GPS N38°54.965 W98°30.549)

car access only, no transit.

Important access note: this is a Kansas state park — runners/spectators need a Kansas State Park day pass or annual pass (day passes purchasable on entry).

Sylvan Grove, KS is a remote rural venue with essentially no public transit options nearby, so car access is required.

From race morning to after the finish.

The course is laid out on Switchgrass mountain-bike trails in Wilson State Park, with almost no trees, leaving runners exposed to the sun throughout.

The half marathon is a single loop of approximately 13 miles, including about 0.3 miles of paved road at the start.

The 50K adds an approximately 19-mile loop for a total of 32 miles.

Both distances have a 5 p.m. cutoff.

The only staffed aid stations are at the start/finish and “Hell Hill,” with unmanned water and electrolyte stations at mile 5 and,

for the 50K, an additional station at mile 13.

With no shade on the course, preparing for heat is especially important.
