After a fast start at the Helsinki Marathon, abdominal cramps and climbs on the island section caused the runner's pace to drop in the second half, but they finished in 3 hours 22 minutes 47 seconds. The runner was impressed by entering the Olympic Stadium and by the finish-line refreshments.

Noora ran the 2018 Helsinki City Run half marathon. She felt comfortable at first, but started walking at the 10K aid station, and by 19K it was hard to run because of side stitches. She ran a few more steps along the final straight and finished just past 2:30.

Helsinki City Run is Finland's largest running event.
In 2027, it will take place on 7–8 May over 2 days on the streets of Helsinki and at the Olympic Stadium.
With 24,000 participants from 110 countries, its main event is the OP Uusimaa Helsinki City half marathon,
Finland's largest half marathon, which has marked the beginning of the summer season since 1994.
On Saturday morning, the Helsinki City Marathon, Finland's oldest marathon, first held in 1981, will be held for the 47th time.
There is also the Helsinki City Double, in which participants run both events on the same day, and a four-leg marathon relay.
On Friday afternoon, there is a children's mini-marathon, and on Friday evening, there is a 5km run and walk.
Half marathon starts on Mäntymäentie beside the Paavo Nurmi statue, runs along Helsinki's main road, Mannerheimintie,
and passes through Lauttasaari Sports Park, Lehtisaari, Tammisairaala and Tilkanvierto before entering Helsinki Olympic Stadium and passing finish.
The course has been changed to a faster course with more sea views, and as an AIMS-certified course, it has markers at every kilometre.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

Works directly at the gates
Alternative: Helsinki Card From about €64 for 24h (Region version, includes zone ABC covering the airport) up to €99 for 72h —
Worth it mainly if you're also using it for free/discounted museum and attraction entry, not for transit savings alone.
Contactless bank-card payment covers full adult single fares only — no discounted fares, day passes, or season tickets via tap.
This has been live systemwide since March 2025 and is explicitly aimed at tourists who don't want to bother with the HSL app or a travel card.
