This is the Wanlv Lake Marathon in Heyuan, Guangdong.

Starting at the city sports stadium, it runs out and back along the Dongjiang River in a flat course promoted as suitable for chasing a personal best.

With 2,000 full-marathon runners and half marathon 8,000 runners, it is a year-end riverside race for 10,000 participants.

The full marathon of the Heyuan Wanlü Lake Marathon starts at Heyuan City Stadium,

follows Yanjiang East Road, Dongjiang West Road, Shengye Road, Yuewang Avenue, Jianshe Avenue,

and Zhongshan Avenue, crosses Zhuhe Bridge, then turns around on Binjiang Avenue after following Dongdi Road and Nandi Road,

retracing the same route back to the stadium.

Making use of the gentle terrain along the Dong River,

it is promoted as a 'flat course ideal for setting a PB (personal best).' Landmarks including China Dinosaur Park are located near course,

allowing runners to enjoy both riverside and urban scenery.

Despite its name, course itself does not run directly around Wanlü Lake;

the route is mainly set along the urban riverfront.

About 1 hour from Henan High-Speed Railway Heyuandong Station to Guangzhou and Shenzhen

Transit card

Heyuan has no metro system. Most travelers arrive by intercity coach from Guangzhou (roughly 40-50 RMB, frequent daily departures) into the Heyuan bus station, then take a local bus (a few RMB) or taxi (about 20+ RMB) to reach the Stadium start area or Wanlv Lake.

Local buses require Alipay/WeChat QR-code payment; taxi/Didi is the easiest option for foreign visitors.

Registration opens at 10:00 a.m. in early November and closes on a first-come, first-served basis (based on the previous year).

Entry fee costs 180 yuan for full marathon and 150 yuan for half marathon.

The total field is 10,000, with 2,000 places for full marathon and 8,000 for half marathon.

The race starts at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday from the Heyuan City Gymnasium.

Traffic controls are implemented on major downtown sections on race day, so runners should check the published detour information in advance.
