Without specialized training, the writer ran the Rabat half marathon as both a long training run and an attempt at a personal best, enjoying the race through rolling terrain, steep overpasses, and descents.

“I finished my race at the 3:50:00 mark with an injured knee BUT, with a very valuable life lesson”

They trained more than 50 times over 12 weeks and passed halfway in under 1 hour 40 minutes, but injured a knee around 25 km. They did not give up and finished in 3:50:00.

All three events—the marathon, half marathon and 10km—start at 8:00am on Hassan II Boulevard near Rabat Olympic Stadium.

Full marathon follows a loop through Rabat’s main boulevards, including Ibn Rochd, Dostour,

Moussa Ibn Noussair, Tariq Ibn Ziyad and Algiers, before crossing the finish on the Olympic Stadium track.

The 10km course passes along Al Allal Al Fassi Boulevard,

crosses Al Fath Bridge via Royal Armed Forces Boulevard, and returns to the Olympic Stadium on Hassan II Boulevard.

the rechargeable option is a personalized, non-transferable electronic subscription card meant for regular commuters, not casual tourists.

A single tram ticket costs 7 MAD and includes one free line transfer within 60 minutes.

Ticket machines accept coins, cash, and contactless bank cards —

but this is for buying a ticket, not tapping directly through a gate (the Rabat-Salé tram has no gates).

A 'Tram Mobile' app also exists for buying and validating tickets on your phone.

Marathon International de Rabat starts at 8:00am on a Sunday every May.

Full marathon, half marathon and the 10km all start together on Hassan II Boulevard near Rabat Olympic Stadium.

Full marathon follows Rabat’s main boulevards, including Ibn Rochd, Dostour/Imam Malik, Moussa Ibn Noussair,
