It runs along the Atlantic coast, passes the Garden of Oeiras, and heads along the banks of the Tejo River into the old city center of Lisbon.

“I was about to finish my first marathon.”

Leo Alexandru trained at least 3 times a week for about 15 weeks for his first marathon. In the rain and over the continuous hills of Lisbon course, my pace began to fade around 25 km, and I alternated between running and walking in the second half. Thanks to the friend who ran with me, slowed his pace and stayed by my side, I did not give up and finished my first marathon. “In the end, I close my Lisbon participation with a time of 4:20:39, placing 5,511th out of 9,566 finishers.”

oneKmore ran the 2025 Lisbon Marathon as his 156th marathon. The start line was moved from Cascais, as in previous years, to the Carcavelos area, and the weather that morning was humid and hot. Although a knee wound had reopened and I was not feeling well, I ran at a comfortable pace and finished in 4 hours 20 minutes 39 seconds after passing the scenery around Belém and the 25 de Abril Bridge.

“I hit every water supply, drinking half a bottle and pouring the rest out over myself to help me stay cool.”

They drank water at every aid station and cooled themselves down as temperatures rose. Their legs were tired, but they held together and finished in 3:03:48.

First come, first served

Entry cost €70

Regular registration for the EDP Lisbon Marathon — tiered pricing, with fees increasing in 3 stages according to the order of registration

Registrations 1–2,000: €70 / 2,001–5,000: €95 / from registration 5,001 onward: €130 (a €4 fee is added to every tier, plus a 5% processing fee for online payments).

No refunds or transfers.

2026 official cut-off point: 30km at 12:40 (local time). The time limit is 6 hours from the last start, with the finish closing at 14:30.

The start is on Estrada N6-7 in front of NOVA School of Business and Economics in Carcavelos, west of Lisbon.

After travelling approximately 1 km from Carcavelos station to start line,

you run the 100% Ocean and Riverside course along the coast and the Tagus waterfront before finishing at Praça do Comércio in the city centre.

The route's continuous proximity to the sea and river is the event's clearest feature.

The EDP Lisbon Marathon is a founding event of the European Marathon Classics,

a series of 8 events that also includes Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Rome, Vienna, and Warsaw.

You must complete the 42 km course within 6 hours, and the 2026 event has 15,000 participants.

The half marathon held the following day has a different start location and course, while the finish is the same.

Start line is at Estrada N6-7 in Carcavelos, about 1km from Carcavelos station.

From Lisbon: CP train from Cais do Sodré to Carcavelos (~30 min).

From Cascais: CP train on the Cascais line toward Carcavelos (~25 min).

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

As the start is at 8:00 am on 10 October, arrange your morning transport first.

If you are staying in Lisbon, take a CP train from Cais do Sodré station to Carcavelos station;

the journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

If you are staying in Cascais, you can take a Cascais Line train for approximately 25 minutes.

The distance from the station to start line is approximately 1 km.

You must collect the kit bag containing your bib and official T-shirt from Pavilion 3, EXPO area,

at the FIL Lisbon International Fair in Lisbon, on 8–9 October from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

You must present the registration document PDF received by email, and someone else may collect it on your behalf.

On race day, trains, buses, and the metro in Lisbon are free from 5:30 am to 5:00 pm,

so prepare your bib and registration documents in advance to reduce transfers.
