The Maratona Monumental de Brasília starts and finishes every race on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, lined with federal government buildings.
The 2026 edition runs over two days, November 21–22: the 5K and 10K start on Saturday evening,
the marathon at 5 a.m. on Sunday and the half marathon at 6 a.m. There's also the Desafio Monumental (Monumental Challenge),
running two races on consecutive days, with a separate finisher medal for those who complete it.
The course passes the National Congress, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Museum,
and between 7 and 11km crosses the JK Bridge with views over Lake Paranoá.
From 14 to 35km there's a long stretch on the Avenida das Nações, lined with more than 130 embassies.
It's billed as a fast course with little elevation change on the planned city's wide avenues, but keep in mind that the city itself sits on a plateau at 1,172m.
It's a World Athletics-certified race and an AIMS member, and in 2026 it received a Gold Permit,
the top grade from the Brazilian Athletics Confederation.
It's also the only Brazilian race in the Mega Finisher South America Run Series, which links five South American capitals.
This year's race is expected to draw 12,000–14,000 runners from all over Brazil and 30-odd countries.
