At the 30km race formerly called Pale Face, now Mellow Trail Race, the runner carefully negotiated trails slick with rain. Accelerating late in the second loop, they finished 8th overall in 2 hours 44 minutes 28 seconds, improving on last year's time by 15 minutes.

No public transit — car access only (Pace Bend Park, Spicewood, TX)

Race is held at Pace Bend Park on a peninsula on Lake Travis near Spicewood, TX — a rural Hill Country county park with no bus or rail service. Normal and expected for this rural Texas Lake Travis-area trail race venue.

Transit card

Spicewood, Texas is a rural Hill Country community west of Austin with no dedicated transit card system. The trail race venue is car-access only; a rental car from Austin (about 45 minutes) is the standard way to reach it.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The start is at Tournament Point in Pace Bend Park in Spicewood, and finish is near the shore of Lake Travis.

Course follows a winding trail of rocks, tree roots, and packed dirt;

some sections of the lakeside access route feature steep cliff terrain.

The organizers recommend carrying several miles' worth of water separately when crossing granite sections exposed to the intense sun.

Packet pickup is available from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM on September 11, the day before the race, and from 6:00 AM to 8:30 AM on race day.

The adult event start line closes at 8:30 AM.
