The Mumbai 1 card is issued free of cost with a small refundable deposit and basic KYC;
minimum recharge is ₹100.
As of now it works on Metro Lines 1, 2A and 7 —
full coverage of the Mumbai Monorail, BEST buses,
and the suburban local train network is still rolling out and not yet complete, so don't assume it works everywhere.
Standard foreign Visa/Mastercard contactless bank cards are not confirmed to work directly at Mumbai Metro gates —
the city instead has its own co-branded contactless cards.
If you don't want a card, single-journey QR tickets can be bought at station ticket counters, vending machines, or via apps like Paytm/Ridlr.
