“I finished like a freight train!”

At the 2015 Oil Creek 100-mile race, the runner responded to late cold and fatigue by spending longer at aid stations and taking on warm food and gear. Maintaining mental strength to the end, they finished in 26:25:42.70, running the final stretch fastest.

Julian VicenteRan in 2012 · Finish time 20:39:59
“I enjoyed discovering the trail, not knowing what lay ahead.”

Julian Vicente struggled at the 2012 Oil Creek 100-mile race after starting too fast and falling short on fuel late on, but his pacer Harry helped him pick up the pace again. Passing runners through the rainy night, he finished 11th overall in 20:39:59.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.
