The MacLehose Trail is Hong Kong's longest hiking course, spanning a total of 100km divided into 10 stages.
Among them, Stages 3 to 8 have a cumulative elevation gain of 3,200m,
making them the most challenging section of the entire trail, known among local hikers by the nickname 'Sheung Au'.
This race was designed as an official warm-up for runners preparing for long-distance trail races of 100km or more.
Separate 4-person and 2-person team categories are available, allowing for practical training where teammates provide support mid-course.

Per the 2025 edition (2026 page not found). No dedicated race shuttle to the start; runners reach it via public bus/minibus plus a walk or hike.
Details sourced from the 2025 edition — reconfirm on wildtrekhk.com closer to the 2026-10-10 date. When regular buses are not running, a free shuttle bus operates from the finish line to central Tsuen Wan.
Rotary Park, Tsuen Kam Au, Tsuen Wan (near Tsuen Wan MTR station)

The organizer runs free shuttle buses from the finish (Rotary Park, Tsuen Kam Au) to Tsuen Wan town centre.

Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
The 57km event (Big Sheung Au) starts Saturday afternoon and continues as an overnight (all-night) race until the following dawn,
so night gear such as a headlamp is needed to get through the nighttime sections.
Stages 3 to 8 of the MacLehose Trail, which the course passes through, have some of the greatest elevation gain among Hong Kong trail races,
making this a course where pacing your energy matters more than simply finishing.
The race is organized by Wildtrek and sponsored by Protrek, with registration handled through the official website wildtrekhk.com.
Times are local to Hong Kong. Check the latest official information before the race.
