THE DREAM
The Revel Mount Charleston Marathon starts in Kyle Canyon in the Spring Mountains near Las Vegas,
Nevada, and descends to the Las Vegas metropolitan area on an entirely downhill road course.
It is a Boston Marathon qualifying race,
with course running through the mountain scenery of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest before reaching the lowlands of the Las Vegas Valley.
The event offers a marathon and a half marathon marathon, and is promoted as one of Nevada's fastest course.
It is held each spring.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Since it’s a downhill course, it’s wicked fast!”The runner cut almost 7 minutes off their personal best. The early-morning shuttle and chilly wait at the start were tough, and the runner emphasised training for the descents.
“It was also very beautiful along mountain roads for the majority of the distance.”Downhill training helped the runner maintain a fast pace at the REVEL Mt. Charleston Marathon. Despite late headwinds and short climbs, the runner finished in 2 hours 21 minutes 34 seconds, substantially improving the personal best.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.
Preview the course and read what runners who went before you wrote.

The marathon course starts near Mount Charleston Lodge in Kyle Canyon,
and the half marathon marathon starts at the Twilight Zone Recreation Area in Kyle Canyon.
Both course reach the finish at the Las Vegas Viper Lacrosse Field Sports Complex.
The start sits at about 2,380m,
and it is a downhill-heavy course that drops a long way to the finish (sources give different figures for the total descent, so there is no confirmed number).
Most of the drop on the course comes in the first half, and the second half is relatively gentler.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

Point-to-point course, starting at Kyle Canyon (Mount Charleston) — no public transportation; paid shuttle only (departs from the main entrance of the Rio Las Vegas Convention Center; marathon 03:15–03:45, half marathon 03:45–04:15, $55 round trip). Spectators cannot ride this shuttle.
Las Vegas finish — return shuttles to the Strip run every 30 minutes.
RTC Tap & GO (a reloadable card exists, but is optional — open-loop bank-card tap is fully supported system-wide)
If you still want a physical Tap & GO card, it's free from the Bonneville Transit Center or RTC Administrative Offices; reload via the rideRTC app or at 350+ retailers. Works directly at the gates
Alternative: 24-Hour Pass $8 (2026); The Deuce/Strip single ride $4, standard local single ride ~$2 — Since single-ride taps aggregate and cap automatically over a 24-hour period from your first tap, a pre-bought day pass usually isn't necessary — just tap your bank card for each ride and let it auto-cap. RTC's own newsroom confirms system-wide EMV open-loop acceptance: RTC transit customers can pay with their debit/credit cards, mobile wallet, or smartwatch across RTC's entire bus network, including The Deuce.
This does not apply to the privately run Las Vegas Monorail, which uses its own separate ticketing. Cash is still accepted on board with exact change.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Collect your bib at the expo the day before, held in the Amazon Ballroom at the Rio Convention Center.
Photo ID is required;
for proxy pickup, bring a copy of the runner's ID and a signed authorization.
There is no race-day pickup, so you must go to the expo or arrange mail delivery in advance.
All runners ride the official buses up to the start.
The start line does not allow parking or drop-offs.
General boarding is around Grand Montecito Parkway: full marathon runners board on the west side of the road and half marathon runners south of Rome Boulevard.
Your bib is your ticket.
Round-trip shuttles straight from the Rio require a separate reservation.
Put your gear in the bag you got at the expo and hand it to the bag-check truck at the start area.
The number on the bag must match your bib, and you must show your bib at the finish to get it back.
Bag check closes before the start, so allow time to drop your bag and get to your corral.
There are portable toilets at the start area and at course aid stations.
Spectators take a free shuttle from designated parking to the finish area;
there is no parking at the finish itself.
Times are local to Las Vegas. Check the latest official information before the race.
