Race reports: 2
TurbolettiRan in 2015 · Finish time 04:16:28
“All in all, I could not be more satisfied with my result and my performance.”

After losing half their gels early in the Sage Burner 50km, the runner adjusted the timing of their fueling and hydration. They kept going through the high-altitude climbs and descents and late sleet to win in 4 hours, 16 minutes, 28 seconds.

chrisboyackRan in 2008 · Finish time 5:14
“I was starting too fast, and I knew it.”

At the Gunnison Hartman Rocks 50 km, the runner struggled with going out too fast and fatigue in the legs. The runner recovered by walking in the middle section, then picked up the pace late and finished in 5 hours.

We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

READY TO RUN

From race morning to after the finish.

Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.

The Hartman Rocks Recreation Area, where the race is held, sits at an elevation of 7,700 to 8,390 feet.

It's a high plateau mixing mountain-bike trails with rocky terrain, and although the grades themselves look gentle,

it's considered a course that feels tougher than expected because of the altitude.

Times are local to Gunnison. Check the latest official information before the race.
