THE DREAM
This is a half marathon run under winter sunshine.
Course passes through old architecture including 16th-century fortresses and along beaches and salt marshes toward the Mediterranean.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“And soon, around 4 km in, I knew it would be difficult to finish this race.”
In hot weather of around 20°C and feeling unwell, they thought finishing would be difficult from 4 km and considered dropping out, but encouragement from fellow runners helped them finish, albeit with their slowest time.

Y pronto, sobre el Km. 4 sabía que iba a ser difícil terminar la carrera.
Read the original on Peralico“I couldn't believe it. I finished much faster than I had expected.”
Despite a long break from running and limited training, Alonsojpd finished the 2018 Santa Pola half marathon faster than expected. Early congestion, heat and later leg and back pain made it difficult, but friends' cheers helped them push on to the finish.

The 21 km course starts and finishes on Calle Fernando Pérez Ojeda, stays entirely within the city limits and follows Santa Pola’s coastline.
At the 4.8 km mark, you reach Gran Playa; at 7.4 km, Playa de Levante;
and at 9.5 km, Calas del Este, a cluster of small coves.
You pass the Mirador de la Cadena viewpoint at 10.8 km and run along Playa Varadero from 12.8 km.
After passing Castillo-Fortaleza de Santa Pola at the 14.6 km mark,
you follow the coastal promenade to Playa Lisa at the 18.7 km mark, then run the final stretch back to the finish.
It's a flat course at sea level along the coast rather than inland, and the course description has stayed the same throughout the race’s history.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

Calle Muelle, Santa Pola port/downtown area (Calle Fernando Pérez Ojeda per race-route listings) — the town's only significant public-transport hub is Estación de Santa Pola (bus station), ~1-1.5km inland from the port-front start/finish, served by 6 bus operators
Confirmed directly on the official site for the 2027 edition: 21K race on 24 January 2027, 10:30 start; 10K on 23 January 2027 (evening). Santa Pola has no train (RENFE) station of its own; nearest rail is in Elche or Alicante, reached onward by bus.
Same start/finish zone on Calle Muelle near the port
Official page states medical/ambulance services are positioned in the start and finish zone along Calle Muelle, implying a shared start/finish area.
Organizers designate multiple general parking zones within the town center near the start for runners arriving by car; public inter-city buses terminate at Estación de Santa Pola, a ~15-20min walk to the port/start area.
Santa Pola itself has no separate municipal urban bus system with its own fare card — it's served by Vectalia's Elx Rodalía regional network (lines such as 91, 255A, 255B, L2, 1, 3, 8, 18, 19). Payment method is mixed/unclear across lines: some are card/app-only (e.g.
the airport line C-6 no longer takes cash), some Santa Pola-area lines use an app-based virtual pass with QR-code validation. Have a contactless card ready to try, but carry some cash and check the Vectalia app for your specific route.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
There's an aid station at the 5 km mark, at 10 km, at 15 km and at the finish, with water plus sponges to cool you down during the race.
There are signs every kilometer.
An official pacer runs with the field.
The course follows the coast at sea level with no significant elevation change and is often described as a flat, fast course.
The race was first held in 1990 and has been organized by Club de Atletismo Santa Pola since 1992.
It holds a World Athletics Bronze Label and, along with the Madrid and Valencia half marathon events,
is considered one of Spain’s three biggest half marathon events by participation.
It also hosted Spain's national half marathon championships in 2016.
Times are local to Santa Pola. Check the latest official information before the race.
