THE DREAM
The 18th edition takes place on October 25, 2026, organised by the Shimada Oigawa Marathon in Liberty Executive Committee,
within Shimada City’s Tourism and Culture Department.
The field limits are full marathon 6,000 and 10km 1,500.
Under a sister-race agreement with the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon,
the full marathon men’s and women’s winners are invited to the following year’s Singapore Marathon.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Even so, I somehow managed to finish my first full marathon at Warachi.”
Satoshi took on his first full marathon at Warachi and finished in 5 hours 2 minutes 5 seconds. His pace dropped after 20 km because of pain in the soles of his feet and calves, but he enjoyed the large aid stations, the support, and meeting fellow runners, and says he discovered the joy of running rather than focusing on his time.

Ryoji Ozawa finished with a net time of 5 hours 26 minutes 29 seconds. He recalls his early pace, the fatigue after 30 km, overtaking pacer, and the support at the finish, describing how he beat his previous year's time without experiencing pain.

Wary of the hot conditions and the upstream course in the second half, the runner managed the pace and fought through calf cramps to finish in a chip time of 2 hours 57 minutes 38 seconds.

Runners start · local time — (full marathon) / 10:30(10km)
The full marathon starts in front of Shimada City Hall,
runs through the city and then joins Liberty, Japan's first dedicated marathon course along the Oi River.
It is a flat course.
Organisers describe it as a course where experienced runners can target a personal best and first-timers at the full marathon distance can aim to finish.
Liberty is used year-round as a training camp by corporate teams and high-school and university athletics clubs.
There are two events: full marathon and 10km.
The full marathon starts at 9:00 AM with a time limit of seven hours;
the 10km starts at 10:30 AM with a time limit of 90 minutes.
Time limit is measured by gun time for both events.
Both finish areas are at Shimada City Athletic Stadium.
Neither the race nor the course is certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, so results from this event are not officially recognised.
Timing uses chips, with gross time adopted as the official result.
Lap times and the reference chip time are also recorded every 10km.
Six pacer are provided: 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, 4:30, 5:00 and 6:00.
Corral are assigned according to predicted finish time.
If you prefer to run slowly, declare the seven-hour time limit as your predicted time and start in a rear block.

So on race morning, you can just run.
Registration and bib pickup information for the Shimada Oigawa Marathon could not be confirmed in publicly available sources.
JR Shimada Station (島田駅), reached via Tokaido Shinkansen to Shizuoka or Kakegawa, then transfer to JR Tokaido Main Line to Shimada
From Shimada Station: full marathon start (Shimada City Hall) is a 10-minute walk; the 10km race start (Shimada City Athletic Stadium) is a 15-minute walk. No parking near the start point itself — remote paid parking lots (advance reservation) are connected to the venue by free shuttle bus.
Traffic control applies throughout downtown Shimada on race day; local community bus routes are also temporarily altered. In the morning, shuttle buses run from parking lots A, B and C to Shimada City Hall, the full marathon start.
There are traffic restrictions in the city. Parking requires advance reservation (1,000 yen) and spaces are limited, so public transport is recommended.
Finish area in central Shimada (near start venues); free shuttle buses run from the finish area back to the official remote parking lots
A special free shuttle bus also runs from the finish area to Itawari-no-yu hot spring in Tashiro-no-Sato.
Free shuttle buses: (1) remote paid parking lots to start venue, (2) finish area back to those parking lots, (3) finish area to Itawari-no-yu onsen.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
There is no race-day registration.
The race number and timing chip are sent out in advance, normally around three weeks before the event, so remember to bring them.
Bag drop locations vary by distance.
Full marathon runners use the area near Shimada City Hall, while 10km runners check bags at Shimada City Athletic Stadium;
both distances collect bags back at the stadium, the main venue.
Only bags placed in the designated envelope are accepted.
Before the start, full marathon runners use the Ooruri changing room, while 10km runners use tents at the finish.
After finish, both distances use the finish-area tents.
As congestion is expected, runners are advised to arrive dressed in what they can race in.
Official event parking requires advance payment and reservation (1,000 yen per vehicle),
spaces are limited, and free shuttle buses operate from the car parks farther from the start venue.
From Shimada Station, the start is approximately 10 minutes on foot for full marathon runners and 15 minutes for 10km runners.
The aid station after 33km, Station 11, is known as the 'Dai (大)aid station' and offers around 30 items,
including small manju cakes, oden, yakisoba, mini chicken ramen, soup and Shimada-jiru.
Station 5 is the 'Fruit Station', serving melon, pineapple and Kanzamikan.
The participation gifts are an original race T-shirt and Shimada tea,
while the bib includes a 500-yen 'Shimada Omotenashi voucher' usable at participating shops around the city.
There is no finisher finisher medal.
A web finisher certificate listing each 10km split time and chip time is provided.
After the race, participating restaurants host 'Shimada Kanpai Town', and the main venue has a local-products market called 'Shima-Uma'.
Family members can track runners through RUNNET's '応援navi' service.
Times are local to Shimada. Check the latest official information before the race.
