The Shin Akashi Castle Park Marathon is a looped marathon inside Akashi Park in Akashi, Hyogo Prefecture, organized by the Team Zero office.
The 2026 race is on Saturday, November 21, starting and finishing at the Akashi athletics stadium (Kishiro Stadium) inside the park.
Running alongside the walls of Akashi Castle in late fall, with the leaves turning, is the big draw.
The course is a fully paved 2km loop.
There are five races, the marathon (21 laps plus 195m), 30K, 20K, 10K and 4K, all starting together at 10 a.m. (starts may be staggered).
The time limit is 5 hours regardless of distance, so even in the marathon you can finish comfortably at under 7 minutes per km.
Because you repeat the same 2km, it's easy to take drinks or your own nutrition from the same spot many times.
Results are timed separately for men and women, with instant results and a finisher certificate provided.
Check-in is on race day from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the stadium, and changing rooms and bag storage (no valuables) are available.
The entry fee is ¥6,000 for the marathon, ¥5,500 for the 30K, ¥5,000 for the 20K, ¥4,500 for the 10K and ¥4,000 for the 4K.
The participation gift is Akashi Yume Kobo's akashiyaki batter mix set plus Oliver Sauce takoyaki sauce, so you can try making akashiyaki at home.
Entries are open until November 8 but close early if the race fills up.
The stadium is a 5-minute walk from the north exit of Akashi station on JR and the Sanyo Railway.
