Slovenske Konjice

The 10km course is a gently rolling loop through the countryside between Slovenske Konjice and the nearby spa town of Zreče.

Zreče is a village at the foot of the Pohorje range, and course has about 70m of cumulative elevation gain, most of it in the first half.

In addition to the 10km, half marathon and a 5km course are also held, and the 10km course is certified as an official distance.

Typical race-season temperature: around 15°C (60°F): Short sleeves or light long sleeves + arm warmers

Getting to the start

Slovenske Konjice bus station, directly at Mestni trg (Town Square)

Start/finish at Mestni trg in front of the Kulturni dom. Town has no railway station of its own; nearest rail is via Slovenska Bistrica/Poljčane on the Maribor–Celje line, so intercity bus (stopping at Mestni trg) is the practical option.

The Konjice Marathon is held every year on the last Sunday of September in Slovenske Konjice, attracting more than 1,500 participants across its three races.

This small town is approximately 35 km from Maribor and 100 km from Ljubljana, making it easy to travel from either nearby city as a base.

Because the route includes rolling rural roads, it is best not to push pace too hard on the early climbs.
