This 10 km race runs along the Bass Highway in Burnie, a coastal city in northern Tasmania.

A 5 km race and an 800 m children’s race are also held.

It is a flat out-and-back coastal-road course, a long-running event known in Australia as a venue for fast 10 km times.

Course starts on Wilson St near Intersport Burnie, heads south past the Cattley Street intersection until it reaches Bass Highway.

It then turns east, completes the 5 km mark turnaround point, returns west along Bass Highway,

turns right onto Wilson Street, and runs the final 550 m to finish.

Course is a flat course along Tasmania's north-west coast and has been held annually since 1985.

The 10 km, 5 km and 800 m Kids Dash events all start and finish in the town centre (CBD).

Typical race-season temperature: around 11°C (52°F)
Short sleeves or light long sleeves + arm warmers

Getting to the start

Start/finish is in Burnie's CBD on Wilson Street, near Intersport, close to the harbour/wharf area. Burnie has no rail passenger service or metro; reached mainly by car or the Spirit of Tasmania ferry (Devonport) plus a drive, or regional coach/flight into Burnie/Wynyard.

Given Burnie's small size, most accommodation is within walking distance of the CBD start/finish.

Getting to the finish

Finish is also in the Wilson Street/CBD area near an 'event village' by the wharf.

Course is a flat coastal road course that is generally favourable for fast times.

The 5 km event shares the start section with the 10 km course before turning back at the intersection of Bass Highway and River Road (2.5 km mark).
