The start and finish are on Marktplatz.
The marathon first makes a loop through the city centre from in front of the Town Hall, then heads along the Bürgerpark to the botanical gardens.
It then passes Universum before entering the Bürgerpark, goes through Überseestadt and reaches the banks of the Weser.
Following the river to Weserstadion, it returns to the square via Osterdeich.
The organisers state that the final section passes through Weserstadion before heading to Marktplatz.
The half marathon heads from in front of the Town Hall past the main station towards the Bürgerpark and Überseestadt,
then follows the Weser to Weserstadion before returning via Osterdeich.
The 10km race loops through the city centre before heading straight to the Weser and using the same finishing section.
All three course are held on officially measured course registered with the Bremen Athletics Federation and German Athletics Association (DLV).
The first edition was held on 24 April 1983 under the name 'Bremen Marathon Durch Stadt und Land', with approximately 2,800 people on the start line.
After being discontinued in 1992, it returned in 2005 with the course changed.
The 10km race was added in 1986, and the half marathon in 2006.
The 2026 edition will be the 21st.
