THE DREAM
The race starts in Tianzhong Township, Changhua County.
“Taiwan Rice Granary”, in the event name, means a rice granary, and the race is staged in this rural township.
The event was launched in 2012 at the initiative of Tseng Tsung-cheng and is built around the warmth of the countryside.
It has course certification from AIMS (the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) and was selected as a “Taiwan Characteristic Marathon.” Organizers say 8,000 local residents turn out to cheer the runners.

Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I’ve had plenty to eat and drink, so off I go again!”
On a first attempt at the Tianzhong Marathon half marathon, the runner enjoyed residents’ enthusiastic support and varied food supplies. Waiting 15 minutes for freshly roasted chicken and stopping for a massage, the runner embraced the festival atmosphere over the clock.

Read the original on PTT Road_Running“I was lucky to get a place in this year’s popular Tianzhong Marathon. The weather was cool too, and I finished in my expected time without injury or pain.”
Cool weather helped the runner finish the Tianzhong Marathon pain-free in the target time. Residents’ high-fives and generous food supplies made an impression, while country roads and hills offered a taste of the village’s warm atmosphere.

Alternative: Central Taiwan TPASS (monthly pass covering Taichung/Changhua/Miaoli/Nantou) NT$699 (resident) / NT$999 (non-resident) per month — Only worth it if you're basing yourself in the area for close to a month; for a race weekend, pay-as-you-go with EasyCard/iPASS is simpler and cheaper. Foreign contactless bank-card tap-to-pay is being rolled out on some Taiwan transit systems (notably Taipei) but is not confirmed as available on Changhua's local buses.
