Metro station ticket counters Not accepted at the gates — get the local card above

Alternative: 72-Hour Hanoi Metro Card 150,000 VND — Good value if you're in Hanoi 2-3 days and plan to use the metro repeatedly plus connecting buses (free transfers included). A limited contactless bank-card trial (Visa, Apple Pay, Google Pay, VietQR) is running on metro Line 2A as of 2026 but isn't system-wide yet.

Buses are cash-only, paid to the conductor on board (~7,000-9,000 VND per ride).
