From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“The narrow trails required constant attention to keep from turning an ankle or doing a face plant.”The narrow paths covered with fallen leaves and roots, along with the constant ups and downs, made it tougher than expected. After getting over a major hill in the latter stages, the runner finished in 5:52 and was impressed by the friendly aid stations and the food at the finish.
“I realized the race was done for me.”At the Tecumseh Trail Marathon, the runner crossed muddy trails and creeks after heavy rain, but worsening pain in the right knee forced a stop at mile 9.5. Aid station volunteers helped the runner get back, a choice that kept the injury from getting worse.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.
