This race uses the paved bicycle and pedestrian path of the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail directly,
running an out-and-back course format starting from the Hawthorne trailhead and going to a set point before returning on the same path.
The almost flat paved road has earned the race a reputation for high Boston Marathon qualifier passage rates,
with 64% of participants achieving Boston Marathon qualifying (BQ) times at the 2022 edition.
The categories are divided into full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles), and 4-person relay.
'Mary Andrews' in the race name refers to a Florida Track Club (FTC) member who completed this race's first full marathon in March 2021, diagnosed with aggressive cancer shortly after finishing and passed away.
The race has continued annually in their honor since.
Note that course is a trail section with limited shade, so despite being a winter race,
wind protection and UV defense are more necessary than cold-weather gear.
Times are local to Hawthorne. Check the latest official information before the race.
