THE DREAM
This citizens' marathon began in 1967.
It was created with the idea of "running together with" Kokichi Tsuburaya, an Olympic bronze medalist.
Categories are the 30km and 10km, both of which are course certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations.
Alongside everyday participants, runners who competed in the Olympics and the Hakone Ekiden also take part, drawing entrants from across the country.

The Ome Marathon began in 1967 with the aim of “promoting marathon running and improving performance,” making it a civic marathon with more than half a century of history.
It is said to have launched under the slogan “Let’s run together” with Kokichi Tsuburaya, the marathon bronze medalist at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics,
and has consistently aimed to be an inclusive mass-participation race open to everyone rather than limited to a particular group.
Course offers two events, 30 km and 10 km, both on Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified course.
In addition to the chance to run through Ome’s distinctive early-spring road scenery,
the race has a long tradition of attracting university athletes competing in the Hakone Relay and corporate-team runners,
making it a popular event that draws runners from across Japan.
The 30 km course starts in Higashi-Ome 4-chome, turns around at Kawai,
and crosses finish in front of Sumitomo Metal Mining Arena Ome (Ome City General Gymnasium).
The 10 km course starts at the same location, turns around at Hinatawada, and finishes in front of Ome City Hall.
The 30 km course is reported to have approximately 85.8 m of elevation gain.
