'The Wild Beauty – 21K' is a one-way course that follows the southern shore of Lake Wörthersee from Klagenfurt to Velden.

The start is at Strandbad Klagenfurt, and the finish is in front of the Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden.

The southern shore section has rolling terrain, with cheering zones and aid station placed along the lakeside stretch.

The certified distance is 21.0975km, and it is an AIMS-certified course.

Typical race-season temperature: around 13°C (55°F): Short sleeves or light long sleeves + arm warmers

Start at Strandbad Klagenfurt (lake beach venue). Official page recommends Kärntner Linien public transit.

ÖBB/Westbahn connect from Vienna, Salzburg, Graz, Munich, Ljubljana, with a 10% Westbahn discount for runners through 30 Sept 2026.

Getting to the finish

Schlosshotel Velden

Point-to-point half marathon along Süduferstraße (south shore road) from Klagenfurt to Velden, finishing at Schlosshotel Velden (~20km from Klagenfurt).

Start shuttle

Free shuttle bus from Velden (finish) back to Strandbad Klagenfurt (start) for finishers, though availability is limited/not guaranteed. A race-day regional 'Freizeit-Ticket' (€14.90) covers all-day public transit.

Eligibility requires participants to be at least 16 years old, with guardian consent needed for those born in 2012, 2011, and some born in 2010.

A shuttle is provided from the finish in Velden back to the start in Klagenfurt.

The southern shore route along the lake has rolling terrain, so it is not a completely flat course.

In late September, the Carinthia region can be chilly in the mornings and evenings, so warm clothing is needed before the race starts.
