“And the course gets really distinctive!”
On the 58.5km Trail de la Côte d'Opale, the runner enjoyed varied scenery and support across beaches, cliffs, and dunes. Knee pain required stretching late on, but they kept running to finish in just over 7 hours.

En plus, ça rajoute une vraie originalité au parcours !
Read the original on TRAIL & CO“Starting on the beach at low tide feels truly magical.”
At the Trail de la Côte d’Opale 54km, the runner covered a varied course of beaches, cliffs, gravel, and river crossings. Despite late fatigue and problems with aid-station drinks, simply finishing mattered more than pushing for a time.

finish in Wimereux
The race starts and finishes in the northern French coastal town of Wimereux, at the seaside Jardin de la Baie Saint-Jean.
Course links the chalk cliffs, dunes and shingle beaches of the Côte d’Opale.
A key section begins at Tardinghen Beach, passes the cliffs of Cap Gris-Nez and reaches Audresselles,
then continues along the beaches of Audresselles, Ambleteuse and Wimereux.
Other sections cross the chalk cliffs typical of the Boulonnais, the shifting dunes of the Slack estuary and the preserved natural area of Wissant Beach.
Course combines narrow woodland paths, steep cliff tracks and wind-exposed coastal trails, creating a highly undulating route.
There are seven events: 10km, 13km, 21km, 25km, 42km, 62km and a 110km ultra, held over two days.
The 2026 edition will be the 19th.
The race was part of the Trail Tour National series for 15 years before becoming an independent event.

Official site references a published 2026 shuttle/parking plan for the village and states shuttles run one-way from Wimereux to the start before the race, operating both Saturday and Sunday. No specific train station is named.
Official site info stated plainly. 19th edition confirmed for Sept 12-13, 2026 (a 2-day multi-distance event
All race distances finish at 'Jardin de la Baie Saint-Jean' in Wimereux town center near the sea.
Confirmed by official site: one-way parking-to-start shuttle from Wimereux village, running both event days, tied to a published shuttle/parking plan graphic. Exact pickup points/times not extracted from available text.
Wimereux is a small coastal town near Boulogne-sur-Mer served by the Marineo regional bus network (line 210 connects the two, about 12 minutes, roughly EUR 2 per ride). Tickets can be bought at the Marineo boutique in Boulogne or partner tobacco shops/cafes; there is no rechargeable IC card system here, so single paper tickets are the norm.
Many runners will find a car or taxi more practical given limited bus frequency.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
In mid-September, the weather around Wissant is cool, with highs around 18°C and lows around 15°C.
Rainfall is relatively limited, at about 74mm over roughly four days of the month.
Because the area faces the English Channel, seasonal winds are common and low-pressure systems can bring strong gusts, so a windproof layer is sensible.
Course combines cliff sections, sand dunes and pebble beaches, making it technical and undulating;
the event is known to be challenging.
More than 7,000 trail runners from across France and around 40 countries take part each year.
The area faces England across the Strait of Dover and can be reached via the nearby city of Calais.
Because the course moves between coastal cliffs and sandy sections, the terrain changes frequently;
trail shoes or other footwear with reliable grip are essential.
Times are local to Wimereux. Check the latest official information before the race.
