The road to your own record

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.
Ann ArborTHE DREAM
This is the 16th edition of the Ann Arbor Marathon.
It runs through downtown Ann Arbor and also serves as a mental health awareness campaign.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“We walked, ran and shuffled to that finish line and eventually we made it!”At the Ann Arbor Marathon, the runner initially followed a fast pace group, then struggled with heat, humidity, and knee pain. Alternating walking and running late on, they finished their first marathon in 5 hours 28 minutes.
“I finished with an official time of 1:40:46.”At the Ann Arbor half marathon, the runner enjoyed scenery and memories along their alma mater's campus and the Huron River. The arboretum's steep hills slowed them, but a late acceleration brought a 1 hour 40 minute 46 second finish.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.
Preview the course and read what runners who went before you wrote.

Marathon, Half-Marathon and Relay all start at 5th and Hill, in view of University of Michigan Stadium, per official site. Race-day parking is via a dedicated parking map (PDF) covering downtown Ann Arbor lots/garages near the start; no public transit (bus/rail) instructions given on the official site.
Per official race site: start/finish location and relay/spectator shuttle stated plainly. Detailed parking lot list is in a PDF not fully readable by automated fetch, so exact lot names are not reproduced here.

Same as start: 5th and Hill, Ann Arbor
Course finishes back at 5th and Hill. No transit station info provided.
A complimentary shuttle runs between the start line and Gallup Park Playground (miles 7/20 of the course), used for spectators and as the Marathon Relay exchange point. This is not a general runner start/finish shuttle from remote parking.
Ann Arbor's TheRide (AAATA) charges a flat $1.50 adult fare payable by cash on the farebox or through passes bought online and at retail outlets; a 30-day unlimited pass is $45. There is no widely marketed reloadable tap card for general riders (employer/university MyCommuter and MCard programs are separate), so visitors should have small cash or use the mobile pass option for occasional rides to the marathon start.
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Ann Arbor in October averages 10°C, with a chill in the air.
Fingers and ears feel it first, so pack gloves and a beanie, and dress your torso in thin layers you can shed while running.
Public transportation does not reach the venue.
A private car or rental car is the only practical way to get there.
Registration is handled through the RunSignup platform.
For full marathon, the real race begins after 30km.
Running the first half 5–10 seconds slower than your target pace makes the second half easier to hold, and start taking gels early, before you get hungry.
The race starts at 08:00. Registration closes on October 4, 2026.
Times are local to Ann Arbor. Check the latest official information before the race.
