RACE WEEK
Know the course and time limit, and race day comes into focus.
From the 2026 editionThe race starts at Hukkelhoven Glückauf Stadium and finishes at the same location finish.
The marathon course consists of two laps of an approximately 21 km course.
After passing Parkhofstraße and turning around the roundabout at Willyher Straße, the route continues through residential areas to Hilfarth.
It then follows the Ruhr cycle and walking path to Körrenzig,
before passing through fields and woodland trails near the B57 junction and continuing through Lürich, Baal and Doveren.
After passing near Küllerhof and the Hückelhoven municipal cemetery and crossing the Rieberger hill, runners return to the start.
The marathon time limit is 6 hours,
and participants who exceed 3 hours after passing the second-lap (half marathon point) checkpoint must withdraw from the race.
The event also offers a “flexi marathon” format,
allowing participants to choose their finish distance each time they complete a lap, up to a maximum of four laps.

Hückelhoven is a small town near the AVV/VRR border (Hückelhoven-Baal station sits in the Aachener Verkehrsverbund zone), with cross-tariff Kragentarif tickets covering trips into VRR territory like Mönchengladbach. The Deutschlandticket (about EUR 58-63/month) is valid on all local buses and trains here and is the simplest option for visitors.
There is no separate IC card system; the town is otherwise easily reached by car.

Wegberg, where the race takes place in mid-March, is a low-lying small town in the Heinsberg district of western North Rhine-Westphalia.
Average temperatures at this time are around 3–10°C, and rain or overcast conditions are common,
so a waterproof jacket, gloves and other warm layers are useful.
Course follows gently rolling terrain along the Rur River and through the Doverener Wald, with few steep climbs.
Country lanes, forest tracks and residential roads alternate throughout the course.
Some sections are unpaved, however, and may become slippery in wet weather.
Wegberg has a population of around 40,000 and is roughly an hour by car from Düsseldorf, Cologne and Aachen.
The race is organised by local athletics club TuS Jahn Hilfarth and also has the feel of a village festival.
Times are local to Hückelhoven. Check the latest official information before the race.
