A day you'll remember,

Starts at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, at Torch Square in Xichang, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan.

The field is 20,000, split between 6,000 for full marathon and 14,000 for half marathon.

It is a Chinese Athletics Association Class A race.

Xichang, a key hub on the old Southern Silk Road, is 3 hours from Chengdu, 1 hour from Panzhihua, and 4 hours from Kunming by high-speed rail.

Course starts and finishes at Torch Square, running along a main downtown road before turning from north to south for a loop around Qionghai Lake.

Of the full 42.195km, 36km passes through wetland scenic areas and the remaining 6km through city streets.

Along course, the route passes Xichang landmarks such as the Moon Goddess Statue, Qinglong Temple, Jinlin Sandy Beach,

and Dreamlike Water Village, and organizers describe this stretch as 'China's most beautiful course' (中国最美course).

Getting to the start

West Changshu (Xichang) has no metro. Start at Torch Square, Xichang city, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan.

Runners with bib numbers ride city buses free during the race; regular local bus lines serve downtown. Nearest long-distance hub is Xichang West high-speed rail station, linked to downtown by bus routes K1, 6, 20, 102 plus 3 night lines.

No metro/subway in Xichang. City=凉山州西昌市 confirmed.

Public transit = city bus only, plus taxi/private car.

Getting to the finish

Same downtown area as start (Torch Square vicinity); no subway system in Xichang, city buses free for bib holders.
