The defining feature of the Hua’an Tulou half marathon is that the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Eryilou serves as both start line and finish.
Based on the previous year’s course, runners pass through Dadicun and Shangyuancun, turn around once at Yanzaijian, and retrace the same road.
They then make a second turnaround point turn near the Gaoshan ethnic village and Huaxian Tea Capital Square,
pass along the tea-scented Chaxiang Street, and return to the area in front of the Eryilou Tourist Information Center.
With so much out-and-back running,
it is regarded as a course where runners can repeatedly enjoy views of round tulou buildings, tea fields and mountain villages.
