Transit card
Use Alipay's in-app Transport QR code (乘车码) for metro and buses — set it up once in the Alipay app and scan at the turnstile/reader. It works with foreign passports and foreign credit cards, no Chinese bank account needed.
Transit cardHefeitong (合肥通)
Where to buyMetro station service counters / ticket offices, or via the Hefeitong app or its WeChat/Alipay mini-program
Contactless cardNot accepted at the gates — get the local card above
Transit cardForeigners can apply for a physical Hefeitong card with a valid passport at designated outlets, but for a short race trip the Alipay QR code is far easier to set up and top up with an international card. Confirm you've enabled the 'Transport' QR feature for Hefei specifically inside the app before your first ride.
