November 30; race March 14, 2027 Don't give every deadline on this list the same weight. For the four lottery races, the date is the real deadline. Mumbai's official notice says entries close at 11:59 p.

Look at the Shizuoka Marathon. According to the city's notice, general marathon entry for the March 14, 2027, race filled and closed as of 1 p.m.

on October 2—more than a month before the official deadline of November 12. So the truly urgent rows on this list are the two where spots can run out before the date: Mumbai and Tokushima.

2Chicago Marathon Lottery Closes October 29 at 2 p.m.

The 49th Chicago Marathon is Sunday, October 10, 2027. The general lottery opened at 8 a.m.

on October 8 and closes at 2 p.m. CT on October 29.

Results arrive by email on Tuesday, December 8. Entry is $250 for U.S.

residents and $260 for everyone else, plus a processing fee. It's a lottery, so entering on the last day costs you nothing. What's easy to miss is that Chicago is the only race on this list that closes in October.

Search for "November deadline" races, flip the calendar, and Chicago's date has already passed. Why is 2 p.m.

a trap? It's Central Time, so for runners in far-off time zones the deadline can slide into the early hours of October 30 or end on the morning of the 29th. If you plan to enter, remember the time more than the date.

What pairs with it in fall 2027? The Dublin Marathon falls two weeks later, on October 24. Both are lotteries, so if you enter both, you could get into both in December.

If you don't plan to run two marathons two weeks apart, the math is easier when you set your priority before you apply.

3Rotterdam Marathon: Preregister by November 3

The 2027 Rotterdam Marathon is April 11, and it adds a step before registration. Free preregistration opened at 10 a.m.

on October 20 and closes at 10 a.m. on November 3, and only those who preregister get a personal registration link on November 4.

If you signed up in that window, your link opens at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4.

Organizers were blunt about this step: "Pre-registration gives you access to registration, but does not guarantee a race entry." The real spots go first come, first served once the November 4 link opens. Organizers also note that when you preregister has no effect on your place in line.

So there's no reason to hurry before November 3—but at 2 p.m. on November 4, you'll want to move fast.

If you paid €5 to preregister for the 2026 race, that €5 comes off your entry fee if you get into the 2027 race. The 2027 entry fee, however, isn't listed in the preregistration information yet. Once 10 a.

4Mumbai Marathon: Spots Could Run Out Before November 5

The 2027 Tata Mumbai Marathon is January 17. Marathon registration opened at 7 a.m.

IST on July 31, 2026, and officially closes at 11:59 p.m. on November 5.

But there's a catch: entries close then "or as soon as running places are filled, whichever is earlier." The fee is 5,000 rupees for Indian residents and $90 for overseas runners, both including India's 18 percent goods and services tax. The problem is the window itself—more than three months long.

A long window makes it easy to put things off day after day, trusting the deadline, and in a first-come race that habit can cost you when a sold-out notice suddenly goes up. Once registration closes, the race is just over two months away. You'll need to book flights and lodging too, so if Mumbai is on your mind, it belongs with Tokushima at the top of this list.

5Mt. Fuji 100 and Western States 100: No Qualifier, No Lottery Ticket

Both 100-milers start by asking whether you're eligible. General entry for Mt. Fuji 100's FUJI100mi runs from 12 p.

m. on November 2 through 11:59 p.m.

on November 15, with a lottery if it's oversubscribed. Results come out December 1, and fees are due December 1–15. General entry is ¥50,000 for FUJI100mi and ¥30,000 for KAI70k.

To apply for the 100-miler, you need to have finished one of the organizers' designated qualifying races within the two years before general entry opens. The race starts in waves beginning at 5 p.m.

on Friday, April 23, 2027. The 2027 Western States 100 is June 26–27. Lottery entry is online only, November 1–21, with the drawing on December 5.

The fee is $575 plus an online processing fee, and selected runners must finish registering within 10 days. To qualify, you must be 18 or older and have finished a qualifying race between November 3, 2025, and November 8, 2026. Here's where two dates collide.

The Western States qualifying window ends November 8, but the lottery stays open through November 21. If you're counting on an early-November race to qualify, your finish deadline closes 13 days before the entry deadline.

6Dublin Marathon Public Ballot Is Open for Just 6 Days

The 2027 Dublin Marathon is Sunday, October 24. The public ballot (lottery) opens at 9 a.m.

on Thursday, November 12, and closes at midnight on Tuesday, November 17. That's just six days. Of the race's 22,500 total spots, 17,200 go through this ballot.

The entry fee is €130 plus platform and payment fees. When you apply, you pay a €4 ballot fee up front. According to the organizers, "The €4 ballot fee will be automatically refunded to unsuccessful applicants," and successful applicants have the €4 taken off their entry fee.

The platform and payment fees, however, aren't refunded either way. In effect, those fees are the only cost of applying. Dublin's trap is at the start.

The other lotteries are already open or open November 1–2, but Dublin doesn't open until the morning of November 12. Go to the page before then and there's nothing there. Write down both the opening and closing dates so you don't miss the six-day window.

7Tokushima Marathon Has 6,100 First-Come Spots—Shizuoka, Same Day, Is Already Full

The 2027 Tokushima Marathon is Sunday, March 14, with two waves starting at 8:20 and 8:30 a.m. The time limit is 6 hours, 30 minutes from the start of the second wave.

Of 8,500 total spots, 6,100 are for general entry, which opened at noon on October 1 and runs first come, first served through 11:59 p.m. on November 30.

The entry fee is ¥13,000, plus ¥3,000 if you want the commemorative T-shirt. On top of that, a registration fee of 6 percent of your total payment is added. Of the two races on the same date, Shizuoka filled on October 2, while Tokushima stays open through November 30.

If you plan to run a marathon in Japan in March, whether Tokushima's November 30 deadline gives you plenty of time depends on how many spots are left.
