THE DREAM
Mt.FUJI100 is one of Japan's biggest trail races, looping around the foot of Mt Fuji.
It started in 2012 as the Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji (UTMF) and took its current name in 2024.
The 15th edition runs from 23 to 25 April 2027, with five races: the 165.3 km FUJI100mi, the 70k and 40k, and the short SAKUYA races.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“Can I really make it 70 km today…”
With tonsillitis and back pain, the runner went into KAI70k having done almost no training and finished in 16 hours 10 minutes 47 seconds. The steep climb up Mt Shakushi was congested, and with the night fog and cold the runner cooled down quickly whenever they stopped, so they put on extra clothes and gloves. After refuelling with Yoshida udon at the K4 aid station and adding more tape to a knee, the runner crossed the final peak, Shimoyama.

Read the original on YAMAP 활동 일기“I'd decided my first 100-miler would be FUJI, so I was relieved just to get through the ballot and make it to the start.”
A runner who took up trail running just over 3 years ago chose FUJI100mi for a first 100-miler and finished in 34 hours 6 minutes 7 seconds. Having identified injury, stomach problems and sleep as the biggest risks, the runner prepared for them in advance, but couldn't fight off the drowsiness and gave up on the second goal of finishing on Saturday. The runner wrote that the drop bag absolutely needed medication, extra fuel, warm solid food, a change of clothes and a spare charger.

Mt.FUJI100 is a trail race linking eight cities, towns and villages in Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures around Mt Fuji.
It started in 2012 as the Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji (UTMF) and was renamed Mt.FUJI100 in 2024, its 10th edition.
An organisation headed by Tsuyoshi Kaburaki, an icon of Japanese trail running,
is one of the organisers, and course maintenance and environmental conservation are central to the event.
The main race, FUJI100mi, covers 165.3 km with 6,463 m of elevation gain.
It starts on Friday evening at Fujisan Kodomo-no-Kuni in Fuji City, on the south side of Mt Fuji, and runs via Fumoto,
Lake Shoji, Oshino and Lake Yamanaka to finish at Fuji Hokuroku Park in Fujiyoshida on the north side.
Most of the course lies between 500 and 1,600 m above sea level, so temperatures drop sharply overnight.
From 2027, poles are allowed on a trial basis after F5, but they remain banned on some sections inside the national park.
The KAI70k (67.9 km) and ASUMI40k (38.5 km), held alongside it, are loop course that start and finish at Fuji Hokuroku Park.
FUJI100mi and ASUMI40k are part of the World Trail Majors, and FUJI100mi is also a qualifier for Western States 2028.
On Sunday there is also SAKUYA, which trials mountain-race rules, plus mini races for children, so the festival atmosphere carries on for all three days.
This may change for the next edition.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.
Official merchandise, trail gear brand booths and booths from the host municipalities.
Some stalls stay open late into the evening (2026 edition).
24–26 April (2026 edition)
富士山こどもの国 (Fujisan Kodomo-no-Kuni, Fuji City) — no rail station; reached by official access tour buses
FUJI100mi start is in Fuji City, Shizuoka, on the south side of Mt. Fuji.
Runners usually check in at Fuji Hokuroku Park and travel to the start by official access buses/tours (sales planned from Dec 2, 2026; details TBA). From Tokyo: Fujikyu highway bus Tokyo Station to Fuji-Q Highland about 2h10; Busta Shinjuku to Fuji-Q Highland about 1h40; JR/Fujikyu through limited express 'Fuji Kaiyu' about 1h50. From Narita/Haneda, airport buses connect to Shinjuku.
No runner or public parking at Fuji Hokuroku Park; paid parking passes at Fujisan Parking or Fuji-Q Highland Conifer Forest include a free shuttle to the venue (sales late Jan 2027). Loop bus pass prices and timetables for 2027 are to be announced.
Fujisan Station / Fuji-Q Highland expressway bus stop (Fujikyu Line)
Official loop bus runs Fujisan Station - Fuji-Q Highland Highway Bus Station - Fuji Hokuroku Park 2nd parking lot during race days (about every 30-60 min; via Kawaguchiko Station only 0:00-7:00 on Apr 25).
Your start time, fuel and bag drop.
Know them ahead and the run feels easier.
Entry is open only briefly, from 2 to 15 November, and goes to a ballot if oversubscribed, so check your finishes from the last 2 years in advance.
Charity entries are first come, first served, so they can be an alternative if you want a guaranteed place.
Bib pickup is only at Fuji Hokuroku Park, and for FUJI100mi it is only on race day, Friday, 8:00–14:00.
You need photo ID, so bring your passport.
After collecting your bib, you take the official access bus to the start at Fujisan Kodomo-no-Kuni in the south,
so staying around Fujisan Station, Fuji-Q Highland or Kawaguchiko makes getting around easier.
Baggage storage at the start is paid (¥1,650) and must be booked in advance, and drop bags must be handed in by 1 hour before your start.
From Tokyo, take a highway bus from Tokyo Station or Busta Shinjuku to Fuji-Q Highland (about 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes),
or the direct limited express ‘Fuji Excursion’ from Shinjuku (about 1 hour 50 minutes).
During the event a paid loop bus links Fujisan Station and Fuji-Q Highland with the park.
There is no runner parking at the park.
Records for Lake Yamanaka at the end of April show daytime temperatures around 17°C, but in some years it has dropped close to 0°C before dawn.
Mandatory kit includes a waterproof jacket and trousers, a fleece, gloves, a hat that covers your ears, 2 lights of at least 80 lumens,
a personal cup of at least 150 cc, and at least 1 L of water at the start and when leaving each aid station.
Your total kit must weigh more than 2 kg at the start and when leaving aid stations.
Steep sections at night get congested, and you cool down quickly when you stop, so keep your extra layers where you can reach them easily.
Times are local to Fujiyoshida. Check the latest official information before the race.
