The road to your own record

The city you want to run becomes your next trip.

THE DREAM
This is one of the fastest and flattest course in the UK and Ireland.
It suits both runners chasing a personal record and those attempting their first half marathon.
The course passes along the Antrim coastline and village scenery of Northern Ireland.
Picture the course in advance
and find the pace that fits you.
Streets lined with cheers, runners all around.
You'll be part of that scene.
Take it slow with the finish still in you,
and meet the city all over again.
From the joy of finishing to the tough moments — read what runners wrote themselves.
“I try give it one last push hoping I've saved just enough for a half sprint finish and we cross the line in 1:26:57.”At the Antrim Coast half marathon, the runner braved wind and rain, holding their pace with a group to achieve a personal best. They liked the coastal course but were disappointed by the pre-start wait and water provision.
“There is a reason it is so crowded: the views are spectacular.”There is a reason it is crowded: the scenery is spectacular. Chris Warpolk ran the scenic but crowded course and, even after a bathroom stop, caught up with the 2-hour pacer and finished in 1:56:55.
We translated a short line from each public race report and summarized the experience. Finish times are as stated by the author, and past editions may differ from this year's weather and operations.

Cutoff
Because of the initial 7 km city loop, the start window is open for only 8 minutes. After that, the start closes and you cannot start.
Runners start · local time — Sunday, August 23, 2026 — half marathon starts at 11:00 a.m. (the 2026 half marathon, officially the Condor Executive Antrim Coast Half Marathon, starts at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 23)
The race starts near Larne Town Park and Sandy Bay Stadium, beside the Chaine Memorial Tower, built in 1888.
Course runs through Larne town center and Larne Harbour before joining the Antrim Coast Road.
Designed and completed by William Bald in 1842, the road follows the coastline.
Turnaround point is near Ballygally, and the course also includes sections on Croft Road, Ballymullock Road and Cairncastle Road.
Starting at around 20m above sea level and finishing at roughly 5m, the course trends gently downhill.
Finish is set up again near the leisure center.
The race is a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race and one of only half marathon at that level in Great Britain and Ireland.
The women’s course record is 1 hour 4 minutes 22 seconds, set by Yalemzerf Yehualaw in 2022;
the men’s mark is 58 minutes 36 seconds, set by Kenya’s Daniel Mateiko in 2023.
Both are all-comers’ records for Great Britain and Ireland.
Yehualaw ran 1 hour 3 minutes 44 seconds at the 2021 race, surpassing the world record at the time,
but the performance was not ratified after the course was later found to be 54m short.
This may change for the next edition.
Pick up your bib, check your wave.
So on race morning, you can just run.

Organizers describe this course as a world-class, “flat and fast” course that passes UNESCO World Heritage landmarks and coastal villages.
The Antrim Coast Road, the defining feature of course, was completed in 1842 and remains central to the course.
Course follows a gentle overall descent from the start, at around 20m above sea level, to the finish, at roughly 5m.
As a World Athletics Elite Label course, it is measured to a high degree of accuracy.
The 2021 race, however, produced a world-record-level women’s performance that was later disallowed after course was found to be 54m short.
The field for the 2026 race is already full.
Race-day procedures and assembly times for confirmed entrants are listed on the official website’s Participant Instructions page.
